What this site collects

Fretquest serves pre-built HTML pages. There is no account system, no comment form, no newsletter and no login. We do not ask for your name, your email address or any other personal detail in order to read the lessons.

The web server keeps standard access logs, which contain the requested URL, the time of the request, the referring page, the browser user-agent string and the IP address that made the request. These logs are used to keep the site running and to find broken pages, and they are not used to build a profile of any individual reader.

Advertising and Google AdSense

This site is supported by advertising served through Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies, including the DoubleClick cookie, to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google may also use a device identifier, an IP address and the content of the page you are reading to select which ad to show.

Third-party vendors and ad networks may also place or read cookies on your browser when an ad is displayed. These cookies are controlled by those vendors, not by Fretquest, and their use is governed by their own privacy policies.

You can opt out of personalised advertising from Google by visiting Google Ads Settings at adssettings.google.com, and you can opt out of personalised advertising from many other vendors at aboutads.info and youronlinechoices.eu.

Your choices in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you have the right to be informed about the data collected about you, to request access to it, to ask for it to be corrected or erased, to object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority.

Consent for advertising cookies and for the use of personal data for advertising is collected before any such cookie is set, through a consent message shown on your first visit. You can change or withdraw that consent at any time from the same message, and withdrawing it stops personalised advertising from being served to you on this site.

Your choices in California (CCPA/CPRA)

California residents have the right to know what categories of personal information are collected, to request deletion of that information, to request correction of inaccurate information, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. Fretquest itself does not sell personal information; the advertising cookies described above may constitute "sharing" under the CCPA, and you can opt out through the consent message or through the Global Privacy Control signal, which this site honours.

Requests about personal information may be sent to [email protected]. Because this site has no accounts, we may not be able to identify you in our logs, and we will tell you so if that is the case.

Cookies and local storage

Fretquest itself sets no cookies. Any cookies you receive while reading come from advertising or from the consent message provider. The site stores nothing in your browser's local storage, and it does not track you across other websites.

Blocking or deleting cookies in your browser settings will not stop any lesson from working. Every page is complete HTML with the diagrams drawn into the page itself.

Children and changes to this policy

This site is not directed at children under the age of consent in their country and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.
